Like every week, I decided to stop by my local trader joes and grab some fresh flowers for my room. There is always something new to buy, and I love looking at all the pretty varieties. I picked up some green assortments (that’s what I said on the label), and to be honest, I just started my “flower” journey, so I’m not even sure what they all are, but they reminded me of the wintertime, so I got them up.

I thought, what would pair nicely with these? and usually, I always go for roses, but I stumbled upon some pretty white carnations and decided to get those. I have been loving white flowers in my room lately.
For summer and spring, I had pink, yellow, and red roses, and a lot of baby breaths as well. But for the fall/winter, I wanted to get a lot of whites, deep greens, greys, and browns. Plus, my furniture (lamps, end table. etc..) are all gold or silver, and I feel like that adds a very classy touch instead of the room looking drab. I also layer pillows and blankets, so the room feels cozy. The flowers are lovely and add a sense of earth to the room.
I always have a least 2-3 bouquets in my room. I love the scent, it’s very relaxing to be around them.
I wasn’t too sure what I was doing when I was making my bouquet. I just placed them around, so they looked nice. The flowers were all way too tall for the vase I had, so I had to cut the assorted green plants quite a lot and it wasn’t easy since some of the stems were so thick. It was, of course, easier for the carnations; I cut, then measured, and cut some more so the ones in front were shorter, placing the taller ones towards the middle going back.
It’s so peaceful to work on the flowers. I love it. It’s been about four days now, and they’ve drunk about half a quart, so it’s almost time to refill the water. They are still beautiful, fresh, and standing tall. I plan on posting a video soon about how I keep my flowers fresh.
I would love to take a little floral class to learn more about arrangements and how to care for them properly. I keep my flowers in my room, and unfortunately, here in California, it is hot as ever. The way our house sits, the sun directly hits my window, and it gets toasty in here. I have blackout curtains, but even that doesn’t help much. I know the flowers wilt quicker because of the heat. Luckily the temperatures are dying down because fall and winter are coming. I’m definitely looking forward to that, and I know the flowers are too!
These are some additional flowers I purchased, already in a bouquet. So pretty.

Diamond says I know you’re writing, but when can we go outside?
